Jobs reports
Summary
The monthly US jobs report shows how many jobs were added and the unemployment rate. A very strong report can mean a hot economy and fewer rate cuts; a weak one can mean the opposite. Wage growth in the same report matters too, because rising wages feed into inflation. Revisions to earlier months can change the picture as well.
Key points
- The report shows jobs added, unemployment and wage growth.
- Very strong jobs can mean fewer rate cuts.
- Revisions to past months matter as well.
